Editor’s notes: On this planet, there are many kinds of bridges. Each of them has its own uniqueness and stories. What is the most beautiful and unforgettable bridge you have ever seen. Today, we introduce you to the Beipanjiang Bridge connecting Guizhou and Yunnan provinces.
565 meters above the Banpan River, the Baipanjiang Bridge spans 1,341.4 meters long, connecting Xuanwei City in Yunnan and Shuicheng County in Guizhou and making itself the world’s highest bridge. With a height equivalent to a 200-storery building, the bridge is a part of express highway from Hangzhou in east China’s Zhejiang province to Ruili in Yunnan on the China-Myanmar border.
Construction of the Beipanjiang Bridge lasted four years. Since it was opened to traffic on December 26, 2016, it has cut the driving time from Xuanwei City to Guizhou’s Liupanshui City (Shuicheng County is under its jurisdiction) from five hours to one hour.
