Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry has set a target of sending 12 lakh Bangladeshi workers to abroad in 2018, reports UNB.
Addressing a press briefing at the ministry in Eskaton area yesterday, Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam told journalists about the manpower export target.
He also informed that a total of over 10.8 lakh Bangladeshi workers got employed abroad in 2017, a new record.
"In 2017, the government acquired $13526 million as remittance from the expatriate workers in 165 countries. Since 1975 to 2017, a total of 1,14,64,943 Bangladeshis have gone abroad for jobs." he said.
"The ministry is also working to explore new countries for overseas employment, a research regarding this on its final stage. The research was conducted visiting 12 countries and accumulating information from 42 countries", he added.
