SYLHET: Academic activities at MC College and Govt College in the district came to a halt as a faction of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) enforced an indefinite strike yesterday protesting the murder of a fellow activist, reports UNB. Due to the strike, announced by the Ranjit group of BCL, no classes were held at the both colleges since morning. Meanwhile, the authorities of Sylhet MC College have postponed Honours first year examination yesterday. The arrestees are BCL leader Joynal Abedin Diamond alias fighter Diamond, its activists Ruhel Ahmad, Jakir Ahmad and Syed Abid Ahmad. Earlier on Sunday, Tanim Khan, an activist of Sylhet Govt College unit BCL and son of Israil Khan of Nij Bhurungamari village in Osmaninagar upazila, was stabbed to death allegedly by rivals over establishing their dominance at MC College at Tilagarh in the city.
