BCL begins today with two matches

The sixth Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL), considered as the prime first class tournament of the country is set to kick-off today with two matches at different venues across the country.

In the first round, BCB North Zone will take on Walton Central Zone at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium while Prime Bank South Zone will lock horns against Islami Bank East Zone at BKSP ground.

The BCB has already named the squad of the four team, based on the players’ performance in the NCL. The national players who will be busy with the tri-nation series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe were kept out for the time being but ahead of the Test series against Sri Lanka they could be featured in different franchisees.

Meanwhile, the league is important for the likes of Soumya Sarkar, Mosaddek Hossain, Liton Das and some other players to force their case stronger to get a chance in the Test team. However there is good news for Mohammad Ashraful who is the part of East Zone as he will be playing the BCL after five years.
