Muhith promises govt’s support to preserve Nateshwar

Munshiganj: Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith on Saturday said the government will allocate a good amount of money in the next budget to preserve the Nateshwar archeological site, comparing it to Mohenjo-daro, reports UNB.

The finance minister came up with the announcement while addressing a press conference arranged by Bikrampur Foundation to display the recent archeological discoveries at Nateshwar village in Tongibari upazila, which has emerged as a major Buddhist discovery.

A team of archeologists, involved with the digging work of Nateshwar Buddhist site, will be sent to Pakistan to visit Mohenjo-daro to acquire more knowledge, Muhith said.

“I want to make an arrangement to send some archeologists working on the Nateshwar project to Mohenjo-daro for getting training and enriching their knowledge so that they can preserve the ruins of the ancient city,” the minister added.

Local MP Shagufta Yasmin Emily, National University Vice-chancellor Harun-or-Rashid and 14 Chinese archeologists were present at the press conference.
