DU online admission process begins
The online admission process for the first year honors courses of Dhaka University for the 2015-16 academic sessions began yesterday and will continue till September 10. DU vice-chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the online application process at a press conference at 10am at the central admission office at DU registrar building. This year for the application form of ‘Ka’ unit, students are required to have GPA 8, for ‘Kha’ unit GPA 7, for ‘Ga’ unit GPA 7.5, for the ‘Cha’ unit GPA 6.5 combining SSC and HSC with the additional subject for the first time. According to the decision of the academic committee, admission test of ‘Ka’ unit will be held on October 30, that of ‘Kha’ unit on October 9, ‘Ga’ unit on October 16, ‘Gha’ unit on November 6, and ‘Cha’ unit on October 17 (drawing) and October 10 (general knowledge).
According to the public relations office of DU this year 4, 54, 696 eligible aspirants will compete for a total of 6655 seats in different faculties of the university. Admission seekers will have to pay Tk 350 as the application fees, including online application fees and bank service charges. Electoral management seminar held at JU
SAVAR: A seminar on ‘the electoral violence, administration and management’ was held at the seminar room of Public Administration department on Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus on Monday. JU Public Administration department organised the seminar in association with Election Working Group (EWG) of Asia Foundation while founder chairman of the department also member of Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) M Abul Kashem Mozumder addressed the programme as the chief guest.
Presided over by the chairman of JU Public Administration department Associate Professor Muhammad Sayadur Rahman, Lecturer Sahiba Mahbub conducted over the seminar. The Director of EWG Md Abdul Alim and the chairman of JU Public Administration department also Associate Professor of the department Muhammad Sayadur Rahman presented key notes on the topic. The speakers here said that there is no need for caretaker government in Bangladesh to hold a free, fair election if there is a politically and financially independent Election Commission. The reason behind the violence during the election is the competition of power to capture the political power, they added. Assistant Professor of the department Muhammad Muinul Islam, Muhammad Ashraful Haque, Jebunnessa, Halima Haque, Farhana Afroze, Lecturer Nusrat Jahan Arefin, Moniruddin Shikder, Ahsan Abdullah, Mahfujur Rahman took part in the seminar.
