Two killed in road accidents

At least two persons were killed in separate road accidents in the capital yesterday, report agencies. A rickshaw puller was killed as a private car rammed his rickshaw at Mirpur section-11 in the capital’s Pallabi area early yesterday. Identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Witnesses said a speedy private car hit the rickshaw in front of Xinxian Chinese Restaurant in the area at about 10:30 pm on Sunday, leaving the rickshaw puller seriously injured.
He was rushed to Doctor Azmal Hospital in the area where doctors referred him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) as his condition deteriorated.
Later, he was shifted to DMCH where doctors declared him dead at about 12:30 am yesterday.
Sub-inspector of Pallabi Police Station Shahidul Islam confirmed the incident.
In another incident, a man was killed in a road accident at Mohammadpur in the capital city early yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Ikramul Huq, 30, ward boy of Ibne Sina Diagnostic Laboratory in Dhanmondi, son of Mozammel Huq, a resident of Atibazar of Keraniganj.
The accident occurred around 6.45am when a covered van hit an auto-rickshaw carrying Ikramul and three others at Teen Rastar Mor under Mohammadpur police station, police and hospital sources said.
Ikramul suffered critical injuries while the remaining others suffered minor injuries in the accident, the sources also said.
He was rushed to emergency department of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where the on-duty doctors declared him dead around 8.30 in the morning.
A case was lodged in this connection.
