Expatriates’ welfare and overseas employment minister Nurul Islam yesterday said formulation of a policy is now at final stage to bring

migrant workers under mandatory insurance coverage to protect them from unexpected risks at home and abroad, reports BSS “It is one of the main commitments of the government to introduce insurance for ensuring a safe and sustainable system for migrant workers and is now at the final stage,” said the minister while speaking at a participatory workshop of the stakeholders on bringing the migrant workers under mandatory insurance coverage in the capital.

Expatriates’ welfare and overseas employment secretary Dr Namita Halder, ILO’s Rahnuma Salam Khan, Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA) secretary general Ruhul Amin Swapan and representatives of Bangladesh Insurance Association, Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA) and Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training took part in the discussion
