JU imposes ban on entry of visitors for senate election

JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY: The authorities of Jahangirnagar University imposed ban on the entry of visitors on the campus for six days.

JU Registrar Abu Bakr Siddique confirmed this to UNB on Monday night.

A release was issued on Monday saying that the entry of visitors for any purpose such as study tour and any kind of shooting will be remained prohibited from December 25 to December 30 into the campus for upcoming senate election which is scheduled to be held on December 30.

The release also said that during the election, the movement of rickshaws will be prohibited from New Arts Building to university main entrance.

Training workshop on ETP operation and maintenance held at JU

A training workshop on Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) operation and maintenance was held on the Jahangirnagar University campus yesterday.

JU Environmental Sciences department organised the workshop at the seminar room of Water Treatment Plant of the department.

JU Vice-chancellor Professor Farzana Islam inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest at 11 am.

Presided over by the chairman of the department Professor Amir Hossain Bhuyan, President of the technical session of the workshop Professor of Islamic University Abdus Sattar addressed the inaugural session among others.

Noted Environmental Scientist and the Project Manager of Water Treatment Plant Professor Khabir Uddin delivered keynote speech at the inaugural session of the workshop.

Around 50 student of the department took part at the training workshop.

RU drama assoc gets new executive body

Rajshahi University Drama Association (RUDA) has formed its 27th executive committee for the tenure of 2017-2018 sessions.

Akash Kumar of History Department and Sohel Rana Hero of Islamic History and Culture Department have been made president and general secretary respectively.

The thirteen-member committee of the organisation was announced after its annual general meeting at university central cafeteria on Saturday.

The other office bearers are Vice-President- Akash Kumar, Uttom Kumar Roy Bappy, Joint Secretary Monir Hossain, Organising Secretary Rassul Amin, Treasurer Partho Kumar Hajra, Publication and Publicity Secretary Prosenjit Mistry, Office Scretary Abdur Rahim,   Women Affairs Secretary Sonchita Rani Das and Sobroto Kymer Vowmik,  Farjana Sultana, Mahmodul Islam Himel, Onorada Debu were elected as executrices members respectively.

It is noted that RUDA started its journey on the Rajshahi University campus on 6 June 1983 with the slogan “Ashun Natya Charcha Diye Jibon Charcha Kori”.
