Ex-Shaheens introduce Sheikh Kamal Memorial Scholarship

Ex Shaheens’ Association Dhaka (ESAD) yesterday introduced Sheikh Kamal Memorial Scholarship in memory of Sheikh Kamal, the eldest son of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and an ex student of BAF Shaheen School and College.

The announcement was made at the 58th founding anniversary and 3rd reunion of BAF Shaheen College in Tejgaon, Dhaka organised by ESAD.

Bangladesh Air Force chief Air Marshal Abu Esrar was the chief guest while State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid, Doha Tech President AKM Shamsuddoha, former BGMEA President Md Atikul Islam and ESAD President Zia Shamsi, among others, were present. Speaking at the programme, AKM Shamsuddoha said that Sheikh Kamal studied in this educational institution in 1967.

“This scholarship has been introduced for his memory and the scholarship money will be spent in various initiatives in this educational institution,” he added.

AKM Shamsuddoha paid Tk 10 lakh and Atikul Islam Tk 5 lakh as donation for the scholarship foundation.

During the programme, gold medal was awarded as part of Sheikh Kamal Memorial Scholarship. Bangladesh Football Federation President Kazi Salahuddin and Qayum Reza Chowdhury received the award for the first time.

Air Force chief Abu Esrar, in his inaugural speech, highlighted various activities of the BAF Shaheen School and College.  He also highlighted the contributions of Sheikh Rehana who had studied in this educational institution.
