Today is the birthday of veteran actress Mirana Zaman. The actress, who was born in 1936, will turn 82 today. Though the veteran actress is not thrilled about her birthday, but she is grateful to the people who remembered her birthday. Mirana Zaman said about her birthday, “There is nothing to think about birthday at this age. Walking down the path of acting, I have received profound appreciation from the people and that is the purpose of my life. I really enjoy this. I’m thankful to almighty Allah to be hale and hearty even after the age of eighty.”
On the other hand, the organizing secretary of Shilpi Sangha, Lutfur Rahman George has confirmed that some members of Shilpi Sangha will be visiting the house of the actress to greet her on the occasion.
As one of the most senior artistes of the showbiz, Mirana Zaman has cemented herself as a respected personality, with her devotion towards the art of acting. The actress has explored and made her mark in radio, television, and films as well. She made her acting debut through a radio drama written by Nayla Samad and later on acted in Nilima Ibrahim and Nomita Anwar written radio adaptations. The actress is still involved with radio. A social awareness programme titled ‘Amar Desh’ written and directed by Mirana Zaman is on air for many years on Bangladesh Betar. Her debut television drama was ‘Ghoroa’ directed by Mostafa Monowar.
Mirana Zaman made her big screen debut with the film ‘Jahan Baje Shehnai’ directed by Rahman in 1968. She has 17 films to her credit in her long career, including acclaimed films like ‘Guerrilla’, ‘Suprovat’, ‘Dhire Bohe Meghna’, ‘Ora 11 Jon’ and more. Her last released film was ‘Shikhandi Kotha’ directed by Mohammad Hannan, which was released in 2013. l
