Police arrested a ward councillor of Bogra municipality on Saturday evening in a case filed for allegedly beating a policeman and looting his valuables, reports UNB. The arrestee is Ibrahim Hossain, councillor from ward-8 of the municipality and former convener of the municipality unit of Swechchhasebak League.

Sanatan Chakraborty, additional superintendent of Bogra district police, said Ibrahim and some other young men beat Shilu Mia, a resident of Joleswaritala area of the district town and a constable of Bangladesh Police, attached with confidential department of Police Headquarter, when he came to Bogra to his friend's house on November 17 last. Later the constable filed a case with Bogra Sadar Police Station, accusing Ibrahim and nine others.

After filing the case, police arrested Md Badhan, 19, a resident of Palpara area of the municipality, Mominul Islam Bari, 35, a resident of Railway colony and Mohammad Jony of the area.
