NEF distributed stipend to 10 JU students

SAVAR: Nagao Natural Environmental Foundation (NEF), a non-governmental organisation of Japan, distributed stipend money among 10 Jahangirnagar University (JU) students.

JU Dean of Biological Science Faculty Professor Abdul Jabbar Haolader handed over the stipend money among the students at the counseling room of the university.

Professor of Environmental Science Department Dr Khabir Uddin and Acting Comptroller Mohsinul Kabir were present there among others.

Mentionable, every year, NFE selects 10 students for the scholarship at this university through a three member committee led by Professor Dr Khabir Uddin.

8 IU students get dean awards

KUSHTIA: Eight students of Applied Science and Technology Faculty of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia have received the university's dean award for their outstanding academic results in the honours examinations under 2010-11 academic year on Tuesday noon.

The students received the awards from IU Vice-Chancellor Prof M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari at the prize giving ceremony held at the faculty.

Prof MA Sattar Hossen, former Vice-Chancellor of Jessore University of Science and Technology and Prof M Kamal Uddin, former Pro-VC of IU, were present in the function as the special guests with the faculty Dean Professor Dr M Shamsul Alam in the chair.

The award recipients are - M Abdul Muttalib of Applied Electronics and

Communication Engineering department, Rawnok Jahan of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering department, Sabrina Ferdaous of Computer Science and Engineering department, Khan Jahan Ali of Information and Communication Engineering department, Ariful Islam of Biotechnology and Genetics Engineering department, Aklima Sultana of Applied Nutrition and Food Technology department, Mozammel Hossain of Mathematics department and Mahfuzur Rahman of Statistics department of the university.

2nd reunion of JUSC held

The second reunion of Jahangirnagar University School and College (JUSC) was held on the campus yesterday amid festive mood.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

JU Vice-chancellor Prof Farzana Islam inaugurated the event as chief guest on the school and college premises at 11am. Presided over by JUTA President also the convener of the programme Prof Farid Ahmed JU Pro VC (academic) Prof Abul Hossain addressed the inaugural session among others.  After the inaugural session, a colorful possession led by JU VC, was brought out from the campus premises and paraded different streets.

The daylong function included reminisces, different types of games, launch, award giving ceremony and cultural session.

Awareness building workshop held at IU

KUSHTIA: A workshop on 'Awareness Building Strategies for Self-Assessment Committee' was held at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Sunday.

IU Statistics Department in association with Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (IQAC) organised the workshop at Business Administration Faculty of the university around 11 am. IU Vice-chancellor Prof M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari addressed the workshop as the chief guest while IU Pro-VC Prof M Shahinoor Rahman and Prof M Anowarul Haque Shopon were present as the special guests with Prof Dr Kamal Uddin in the chair. Chairman of IU Statistics Department Altaf Hossain Rasel conducted the workshop while teachers of various departments took part on the programme.

First year classes of RU begin Jan 21

RAJSHAHI: Academic classes of the first year honours courses under 2017-2018 academic sessions of Rajshahi University (RU) will begin on January 21.

The admission process will be finished on January 4, according to RU official website. Earlier, the admission activities began on December 3 under nine faculties and fifty-nine departments.

 IUT holds seminar on sustainability of concrete

A seminar titled IUT-ACF seminar on Sustainability of Concrete was held at Islamic University of Technology, Board Bazar, Gazipur on Monday, says a press release.

Islamic University of Technology (IUT) in association with Asian Concrete Federation (ACF)  organised the seminar. More than 200 engineers/architects from different government and private organisations joined this seminar. Prof Dr Munaz Ahmed Noor, Vice-chancellor, IUT; Prof Dr Md Tarek Uddin, Professor, IUT; Prof Koji Sakai, Representative, Japan Sustainability Institute; Prof Takafumi Noguchi, Professor, University of Tokyo; Prof Donguk Choi, Hankyong National University, South Korea delivered lectures.
