Kamal bids farewell to ‘Warfaze’

Ibrahim Ahmed Kamal, the lead guitarist for the popular heavy metal band ‘Warfaze’, has bid farewell to the band due to his physical injuries.

One of the founding members of ‘Warfaze’, Kamal has been performing on stage and recording music for the band since 1984. He mostly played heavy metal music and is now suffering from physical injuries caused by the playing of such music from 2010.

In a post about his departure from the band, Kamal wrote on his Facebook page: “I am going through recurring injuries till today. Athletes can recover through proper treatment, physiotherapy and rest. My life had no respite. And, according to my doctor’s recent advice, I should take rest and heal or suffer the consequences. I am done with performing on stage indefinitely. I cannot keep on stage commitments anymore (sic).”

In his post, the musician also thanked everyone who supported him during his musical journey over the years.

Kamal used to play the bass guitar for the band, but later took to playing the lead guitar as the band’s initial line-up underwent a lot of changes. The band has been reorganised many times since then.

Many popular songs of the band featured the lyrics and tune by Kamal. These include ‘Oshamajik’, ‘Emon Dine’, ‘Aar Kotokal’, ‘Shopno Tumi Nou’  and so on.

The remaining band members are: Palash Noor (vocals), Samir Hafiz (lead guitar), Sheikh Monirul Alam Tipu (drums and percussion) and Naim Haque Roger (bass).
