RU AIS dept alumni confce begins today
The first alumni conference of Accounting and Information Systems department (AIS) of Rajshahi University (RU) will be held on Friday and Saturday.
Supervisor of the programme and Professor of the department Dr Md Sayaduzzaman confirmed the matter to reporters on Tuesday. Programmes of the alumni conference includes- placing floral wreath at the grave of Professor Samsuzzhoha, tree plantation, colorful rally, discussion, general meeting for forming executive committee of alumni association and cultural function. Chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC) Professor Abdul Mannan and UGC member Prof M Shah Nowaz are expected to attend the programme as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
Vice-Chancellor of the university Prof M Abdus Sobhan, lawmaker of Rajshahi-3 constituency Md Ayen Uddin, RU Pro VC Prof Dr Ananda Kumar Saha and treasurer Prof AKM Mustafizur Rahman Al-Arif will be the special guests.
20th int’l confce on computer, IT begins today
The 20th International Conference on Computer and Information Technology (ICCIT) 2017 will begin at University of Asia Pacific (UAP) Plaza in the city on Friday.
UAP Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department is organising the conference to provide the best opportunity for the computer and information technology professionals, scientists, engineers, educators, researchers and students from all over the world to exchange their scientific ideas, views and thoughts with fellow researchers and participants from home and abroad, said a UAP release.
The three-day conference will include a panel discussion on ‘Digital Bangladesh - Role of ICT’ amongst renowned academicians and personalities from different sectors from home and abroad. This panel discussion will be moderated by Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) Vice- Chancellor (VC) Prof Saiful Islam.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, MP, is expected to address the closing ceremony on December 24 with UAP VC Prof Jamilur Reza Choudhury in the chair.
BSMRAU, Kyushu University sign MoU
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU) and Kyushu University Japan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at a ceremony held at the Conference Room of the university.
On behalf of BSMRAU Prof Tofayel Ahmed, Treasurer, and Prof Kazuo Ogata, Vice-President Kyushu University Japan signed the MoU in presence of Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Giashuddin Miah, deans, directors, provosts, registrar and other relevant teachers of the university. The MoU was signed on exchange of cooperation, technical assistance and student-teacher/expert exchange in the field of education and research.

8 IU students get dean awards
KUSHTIA: Eight students of Applied Science and Technology Faculty of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia have received the university's dean award for their outstanding academic results in the honours examinations under 2010-11 academic year on Tuesday noon.
The students received the awards from IU Vice-Chancellor Prof M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari at the prize giving ceremony held at the faculty.
Prof MA Sattar Hossen, former Vice-Chancellor of Jessore University of Science and Technology and Prof M Kamal Uddin, former Pro-VC of IU, were present in the function as the special guests with the faculty Dean Professor Dr M Shamsul Alam in the chair.

Awareness building workshop held at IU
KUSHTIA: A workshop on 'Awareness Building Strategies for Self-Assessment Committee' was held at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Sunday.
IU Statistics Department in association with Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (IQAC) organised the workshop at Business Administration Faculty of the university around 11 am.
IU Vice-chancellor Prof M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari addressed the workshop as the chief guest while IU Pro-VC Prof M Shahinoor Rahman and Prof M Anowarul Haque Shopon were present as the special guests with Prof Dr Kamal Uddin in the chair.
Chairman of IU Statistics Department Altaf Hossain Rasel conducted the workshop while teachers of various departments took part on the programme.
First year classes of RU begin Jan 21
RAJSHAHI: Academic classes of the first year honours courses under 2017-2018 academic sessions of Rajshahi University (RU) will begin on January 21.
The admission process will be finished on January 4, according to RU official website. Earlier, the admission activities began on December 3 under nine faculties and fifty-nine departments.
IUT holds seminar on sustainability of concrete
A seminar titled IUT-ACF seminar on Sustainability of Concrete was held at Islamic University of Technology, Board Bazar, Gazipur on Monday, says a press release.
Islamic University of Technology (IUT) in association with Asian Concrete Federation (ACF) organised the seminar. More than 200 engineers/architects from different government and private organisations joined this seminar. Prof Dr Munaz Ahmed Noor, Vice-chancellor, IUT; Prof Dr Md Tarek Uddin, Professor, IUT; Prof Koji Sakai, Representative, Japan Sustainability Institute; Prof Takafumi Noguchi, Professor, University of Tokyo; Prof Donguk Choi, Hankyong National University, South Korea delivered lectures.
