A Bangladeshi national was shot dead by members of Border Security Force (BSF) of India at Shimultoli border in Patnitala upazila of Naogaon early Thursday, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Ershad Ali, son of Gazim Uddin of Ambati village.
The BSF members of the Bhatshala camp opened fire on a group of Bangladeshi people while they were trying to enter the Indian territory in the early morning, leaving Ershad dead on the spot,
said Lt Col Khijir Khan, commanding officer of BGB-14 battalion. The BSF members took away the body.
BGB sent a letter to BSF for holding a flag meeting, said the BGB official. Earlier on December 10, two Bangladeshi cattle traders were shot dead by Indian Border Security Force at Manikchak border of Godagari upazila in Rajshahi.
The two victims, Mithu and Nashraf, went to demarcation pillar number 6 on the border with India to bring cattle herds when BSF personnel opened fire on them around 2:00am, according to local police.
