Journalist Utpal das, who had been abducted and held captive for more than two months, is now trying to get back to normal life after returning home on Wednesday morning. “I'm trying to get back to normal life. I'm thinking of joining the office next Monday,” he told The Independent yesterday.
He is currently staying with his parents at his village home in Raipura of Narsingdi. Utpal, who went missing for 70 days, said the abductors did not torture him. “All they asked for is money,” he said. He could not identify his abductors who had abducted him from a city hotel on Oct 10. “They covered my eyes from behind and took me to an unknown location,” he said.
He also expressed his ignorance as to the location. “All I know that I had been held somewhere at a tin-roofed house in a jungle,” he said.
Utpal, a reporter of on online news portal, in his facebook status yesterday expressed his gratitude to all and sought blessings. “I will sing again. I will compose songs. I am grateful to all. Pls pray for me,” said the status. On his previous statement that he went missing after having an altercation with his mother, Utpal said he cannot recall what he had said after his return.
Utpal’s abductors had left him at a CNG station at Bhulta in Narayanganj on Tuesday night. A team from the Bhulta police outpost brought him in after the incident was reported by locals. Later, his family took him to his village home in Narsingdi.
