President seeks more UAE investment

President M Abdul Hamid yesterday invited the government and entrepreneurs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to invest more in Bangladesh, particularly in the fields of infrastructure, power and energy, tourism and hospitability, reports BSS.

The President sought the enhanced UAE investment as outgoing UAE Ambassador Dr Saeed Bin Hajar Al-Shehi called on him at Bangabhaban in the capital.

“The President, during the meeting, also urged the UAE to import more skilled and semi-skilled manpower from Bangladesh,” his Press Secretary M Joynal Abedin told the news agency.

President Hamid, he said, called on the UAE authorities to conclude a Visa Exemption (for diplomatic and official passport holders) Agreement between the two countries to ease movement of people.

Referring to the Dubai Expo-2020, the President said, “Bangladesh is ready to extend all possible cooperation to the UAE government in the process of preparation for holding this mega global event.”
