The 5th China-South Asia Expo and 25th China Kunming Import and Export Commodities Fair will be held from June 12 to June 18, 2018. The news was announced at a press conference jointly held by China’s Ministry of Commerce and the Yunnan Provincial government in Beijing.
The 5th China-South Asia Expo will have the theme “Integrating into the Belt and Road Initiative, Promoting Win-Win Cooperation”. It will have a total of 19 pavilions, including one each for the theme country, the guest of honour, South Asia Southeast Asia, overseas participants, domestic exhibitors, tourism, agriculture and new materials. About 8,500 booths will be provided, covering an exhibition area of 190,000 square metres. In addition to the display of commodities from participating countries and regions, a series of promotional trade and investment activities is scheduled. They are the China-South Asia Business Forum, the China-Southeast Asia Business Forum, the China-South and Southeast Asia Think Tank Forum, the U.S.-China Sub-National Cooperation Forum and Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Kunming Week. Government agencies and business associations from participating countries and regions will be invited to introduce investment policies and environmental and investment projects. These activities will provide a platform for participating countries and regions to attract foreign investment, and for Chinese enterprises to carry out overseas investment cooperation, thus achieving more consensuses and the promotion of common development.
Yunnan province is an international gateway connecting China with South and Southeast Asia. As the Belt and Road Initiative progresses, Yunnan is building itself into a pivot of China’s opening up to South and Southeast Asia. The China-South Asia Expo and the China Kunming Import and Export Commodities Fair is a large-scale international exhibition supported by the Chinese central government.
