SUST syndicate election today

SYLHET: The elections to Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) syndicate and academic council are going to be held on Thursday after five years  Two pro-Awami League panels and one BNP-Jamaat-backed panel are contesting the elections to ascertain their position in the syndicate and academic council.

SUST Registrar Ishfaqul Hossain will perform his duty in the elections as returning officer. The voting will be held from 10 am to 4 pm at the hall room of the administration building, said Registrar Ishfaqul Hossain.

Hult Prize contest held at AUW

The grand finale of Hult Prize was held on Asian University for Women (AUW) campus in Chittgong recently, says press release.  

The university organised Hult Prize competition being associated with Hult Prize Foundation. In partnership with the United Nations, Hult Prize Foundation, and Clinton Global Initiative, the Hult Prize is hosting college and university events around the world in search of the next game-changing start-up. Indian professor Mukesh Gupta from the department of the Environmental Science inaugurated the programme. A cultural show took place after the social-enterprise model show case session. The show ended up with the prize giving ceremony to the winning team.

The winners of this intra-campus event was team The Goodness Exchange, the first runner up was team Hope and the second runner up was team Mannequin.

One winning team from each host city will be groomed for three months by the experts before regional final.  The final round of competition will be held in September, 2018, in which the winning team to be awarded the $1,000,000 prize.

ITHS celebrates Victory Day

The International Turkish Hope School (ITHS) organised a two-day programme on its campus on Saturday in observance of Victory Day, says a press release The main campus had been decorated with colorful festoons and digitized banners portraying the memorable moments of the nation’s victory in the war of liberation.

The programmes included --stunning Bengali group dances, patriotic songs, poem recitation and a splendid drama which outstandingly depicts the scenario of the Liberation war in 1971. Principal of ITHS Roksana Zarin in his welcoming remarks paid homage to the valiant freedom fighters and millions of martyrs, who shed their lives for making Bangladesh a free nation. Masud Ahmed,   Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh was the chief guest while Prof  Mashiur Rahman; Pro-Vice Chancellor of National University and Jewel Aich; Freedom Fighter, Magician & Musician, were the special guests.

Vice Chancellor’s Excellence Awards ceremony held

University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organised the ‘Vice Chancellor's Excellence Awards 2017’ ceremony in the ULAB Auditorium on Sunday, says press release. This is the fourth time ULAB has organized such an award ceremony to recognize the contribution of the faculty and Administration members of the university.

Eminent writer and educationist Dr Anisuzzaman, Professor Emeritus, University of Dhaka along with ULAB’s Vice Chancellor Prof HM Jahirul Haque presented the awards to the faculty and administration members for their outstanding performance and valuable contribution to ULAB. Five faculty members received awards and another five received awards as Honorable Mentions and from administration side three received awards as Awardees and three received awards as Honorable Mentions.
