RAJSHAHI: A youth was sent to jail on Tuesday for allegedly raping a class IV girl student in Godagari upazila, reports UNB. The arrestee was identified as Sifat Ali, 17, a college student, son of Harun-ur-Rashid, of Matikata union of the upazila.

Acting officer-in -charge of Godagari Police Station Hipzur Alam Munshi said Sifat forcefully raped the girl on Saturday night while she was alone in the house.

Sensing the presence of the neighbours, Sifat left the place, he added.

The injured girl was rushed to Godagari Upazila Health Complex and the duty officer of the hospital transferred her to One Stop Crisis Centre of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where she is undergoing medical treatment, said Hipzur.

The OC said victim's father filed a case in this incident with Godagari Police Station.

Police later arrested the youth and produced him before a court, the OC said, adding that the court sent Sifat to jail.
