The government has reduced fees for birth and death registration. The Local Government Division issued a notification on Monday in this regard, Public Relations Officer of the LGRD & Co-operatives Ministry Jakir Hossain said yesterday, reports UNB. According to the revised structure, Tk 25 will be charged instead of previous Tk 100 for registering the birth or death after 45 days to five years of a person while expatriate Bangladeshis will count $1 for the registration, $3 less than the previous rate. Besides, people will enjoy a reduced rate of Tk 100 for ratifying the birth date and Tk 50 for correcting name, father or mother's name and address while the previous rate was Tk 500 for bringing such changes. Expatriate Bangladeshis will enjoy the same facilities for USD 2 and USD 1, instead of previous USD 10. Earlier, people staying in Bangladesh and overseas had to pay Tk 100 and USD 2 respectively for getting the corrected copy of the birth or death certificates which will now be available at free of cost.
