Foggy weather yesterday forced the authorities concerned to suspend ferry services at Mawa-Kawrakandi ghat for five hours leading to suffering to the commuters of both sides of the river. Two international flights faced difficulty in landing in Chittagong due to thick fog, said civil aviation sources yesterday.
Met office officials said such foggy weather would continue for the next 72 hours. Wahidur Rahman, station air traffic officer of Civil Aviation, said a Regent Airways flight from Muscat failed to touch down at Chittagong Shah Amanat Inter-national Airport due to dense fog and was forced to land on Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
Another Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from Abu Dhabi landed on Shah Amanat International Airport in the morning about half an hour late due to fog, he said.
