Golam Mostafa, MP of Gaibandha-1 constituency, who was injured seriously in a road accident on November 18, died at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in the capital yesterday morning, reports UNB. He breathed his last around 8 am, said CMH sources. His first namaz-e-janaza was held at the South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad at 12 pm. He was buried at his family graveyard at Chandipur village in Sundarganj upazila after Maghrib prayers following his third namaz-e-janaza.
Earlier, on November 18, MP Golam Mostafa, along with his two associates, was traveling to Dhaka riding on a microbus. When the vehicle reached Natiapara in Delduar upazila of Tangail on Dhaka-Tangail Highway, it collided with a North Bengal-bound bus, leaving the MP and his two associates -- Shahjahan and Manjur - injured.
The injured were first taken to Mirzapur Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to Tangail General Hospital. As his condition deteriorated, he was admitted to CMH in Dhaka where he succumbed to his injuries today. Golam Mostafa was elected MP on March 22 this year after death of former MP Manzurul Islam Liton.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock at the death of MP Golam Mostafa. The Prime Minister also prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed her deep sympathy to the bereaved family. Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury have expressed profound shock at the death of the lawmaker.
