Demand grows for RUCSU polls

RAJSHAHI: Leaders and activists of Progressive Students Alliance, a platform of four left-leaning organisations of Rajshahi University (RU) held a protest on the campus demanding immediate election to the Rajshahi University Central Students’ Union (RUCSU), reports UNB. Over one hundred leaders and activists of the alliance brought out the protest procession as a part of their ongoing movement for the RUCSU election, and held a short rally at their party tent at the university transport market. Addressing the rally, the left-leaning leaders vowed to continue their movement until their demand is met. Earlier on Wednesday evening, about a hundred students of the university held a candlelight vigil at the University Central Shaheed Minar calling for the RUCSU election. The students also took an oath to continue their agitations until the university authorities take effective steps to hold the RUCSU polls.

Leaders and activists of the alliance also expressed their solidarity with the agitating students. On Friday, the agitating students also launched a mass campaign in front of the university central library demanding RUCSU polls. The agitating students will also hold a free discussion on December 24 on campus over the RUCSU election.
