Shakib Al Hassan, Arnab Sarar Ladif and Mohammed Jafar Iqbal were adjudged  the best sports man of the year in their respective discipline when Bangladesh Sports Press Association (BSPA) announced the ‘Kool BSPA Sports Award 2017 yesterday.

Besides Shakib for the best cricket, Arnab for the best shooter and Jafar Iqbal for the best footballer, among the winners of other discipline – Enamul Hossain Rajb in chess, Sonom Sultana Shoma- table tennis, Junaina Ahmed- swimming, Mohammed Salahuddin- cricket coach, organiser Mahfuza Akhter Kiron.

Shakib Al Hassan, Arnab and Jafar Iqbal are also in the three-man short list of the ‘Best sportsman of the year 2017 while, cricketers Marshafi Bin Martuza, Shakib Al Hassan, Mahmud Ullah Riyad and footballer Jafar Iqbal are in the four-men short list for Popular Choice Award.

Athlete Jahir Raihan was selected for the emerging player award, former national stars Abdus Salam Murshedi and Badal Roy selected for special awarded for their dedication in sports, sports personality in grass roots Mafizul Haque and Robi was selected for the best sponsor.

BSPA has been giving prizes among the best players of different disciplines, organisers, coaches, sponsors and special awards for almost five decades.  The awards will be handed over at a formal ceremony on January 6.
