A group of staff of Register Building of Dhaka University allegedly assaulted a campus-based reporter of a Bengali daily on Sunday morning.  The reporter was identified as Kabirul Islam Kanon, a third year student of Mass Communication and Journalism, also campus reporter of The Daily Ittefaq. According to Kabir, he was attacked by a group of staff of the Register Building while he was filming the empty administrative rooms during the office hour. They also snatched his mobile phone and hurled abusive words claiming themselves as activists of ruling Awami League’s student wing BCL, Kabir added.  The attackers were identified as section officers Nizam Uddin, Ahsanul Kabir and personal secretary to the university Registrar Sheikh Giyas Uddin.Eyewitnesses said, Giyas Uddin claimed himself as a former BCL leader threatened Kabir saying don’t run any story against them.  Kabir filed a written complaint with the DU Vice Chancellor Professor Akhtaruzzaman demanding punishment for the attackers.
