Detective Branch (DB) of police in Mymensingh arrested three fake DB men from different areas of Gazipur early yesterday.

The arrestees are Mohammad Sumon, 40, Akkas Ali, 42, and Palash Mia, 28. Police sources said the gang lifted two fish traders in their microbus from Boilor area in Trishal upazila of Mymensingh on December 3 afternoon.  

The gang also allegedly snatched away Tk nine lakh and 80 thousand from the traders and forced them to get down from the vehicle on their way to Gazipur. The victims lodged a case with Trishal Police Station on December 13.

Being assigned, DB started to investigate into the case. Screening CCTV footages, DB police identified the number of the microbus.

A team of DB police led by its sub-inspector Porimol Chandra Das raided different areas of Gazipur and arrested them, said Ashiqur Rahman, officer-in-cahrge of DB, Mymensingh.

Police also recovered Tk one lakh 50 thousand in cash, handcuffs, toy pistols and uniforms.

They were produced before a Mymensingh court yesterday afternoon with a 10-day remand prayer but the court granted a remand for six days, said the OC.
