The Martyred Intellectuals Day was observed in different metropolitan cities yesterday with a demand of quick completion of the trial process of the war criminals and calling to reject anti- liberation forces and collaborators of the occupation army.
Our Rajshahi correspondent adds: Various political, socio-cultural, volunteer organisations and educational institutions, observed the Day yesterday paying homage to the valiant sons of the soil.
In observance of the day, the organisations demanded completion of the trial process of the war-criminals and collaborators and execution of all convicts awarded death sentences. However; they also demanded ban on Jamaat-e-Islami and bringing them under trail as a political party.
AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, President of Rajshahi city unit AL, along his followers paid tributes to martyred intellectuals by placing wreaths at Shaheed Minar at Bhuban Mahan Park of the city at 12:01am. Meanwhile, local unit of the Workers Party of Bangladesh arranged a candle lighting programme at Bablaban mass-grave apart from placing wreaths on the memorial plaque.
Our Barisal Staff Reporter adds: Different socio-cultural-political organisations, including Sector district administration, Commander’s Forum Mutijuddha-71, Muktijoddha Sangsad, Ekatturer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee, observed in the city yesterday due respect and befitting manners Barisal unit of Awami League, BNP, Jatiya Party, Workers Party, CPB and their front organisations separately held discussions at their offices held and paid tribute at the martyr’s monument on this occasion.
The speakers called for highest punishment of the war criminals and socially reject anti-liberation forces and collaborators of the occupation army from all spheres.
University Grants Commission of Bangladesh also paid tribute to the martyred intellectuals at the memorial at Rayerbazar killing ground in the capital yesterday.
