SNV Netherlands Development Organisation yesterday signed partnership agreements with trade bodies and NGOs to leverage a collaborative approach to improve the health and well-being of Bangladesh's readymade garment workers, reports UNB. Bangladesh Institute of Labour Studies (BILS), Better Work Bangladesh, Dutch-Bangla Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DBCCI), Fair Wear Foundation (FWF), Phulki, SAJIDA Foundation and UCEP Bangladesh signed the agreements in a hotel in the capital, said a press statement. The collaboration is established under 'Working with Women-2' project implemented by SNV Netherlands Development Organisation with the funding support from Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The project will work with 200 factories through different mechanisms and platforms to ensure health, including sexual and reproductive health and rights, for the garment workers.
DBCCI President Faruque Hasan, Chief Technical Advisor of Better Work Bangladesh Louis B Vanegas, SAJIDA Foundation Director Fazlul Hoque, CEO of UCEP Bangladesh Tahsina Ahmed, BILS Executive Director Syed Sultan Uddin Ahmed, Phulki Executive Director Suraiya Haque, FWF Country Representative Md Bablur Rahman, SNV Bangladesh Country Director Jason Belanger were, among others, present at the contract signing ceremony.
