Youth found slaughtered
A young man was found slaughtered at his flat of Aftabnagar in the capital’s Badda area on Monday.
Police recovered the body of Manzil Hoque, 28, owner of a workshop, in the afternoon.
Being informed, a team of Badda Police Station went to the apartment on the 5th floor of a six-storey building at Road-3 of Block-B of the residential area and recovered the body around 2pm, said oficer-in-charge of the police station Kazi Wazed.
He said Manzil had been staying in the flat alone after his separation with his wife Sharmin Akhter Nishi.
2 held over raping college girl
Police in Rajshahi city on Sunday night arrested two people in Boalia in the district in connection with the rape of a college girl and taking video footage of the incident.
The arrestees are Sohel Rana alias Ekram, 25, son of Abdul Rahim Mollah of Satighata in Joypurhat, and Joynal Abedin, 36, son of Manu Kazi of Sreepur in Baghmara of Rajshahi.
Victim's family filed a case with Boalia Model Police Station on December 9 over the incident, said officer-in-charge of Boalia Model Police Station Aman Ullah.
He said Ekram, who had love affairs with the victim, violated the girl and recorded the incident in mobile phone with the help of Joynal.
Man held with 15 gold bars
Department of Narcotics Control here on Monday arrested a man and seized 15 pieces of gold bars worth about Tk 75 lakh from his possession in Godagari Upazila of Rajshahi.
The arrestee was identified as Liton Ali Sheikh, 30, of Jaunpur village in Sirajganj.
Rajshahi Narcotics Control Department Deputy Director M Lutfor Rahman said they seized 15 pieces of gold bar from Liton while one of their patrolling units was searching buses of Sultanganj area.
He said Liton was carrying the gold to Chapainawabganj border area for smuggling the bars into India.
3 killed in separate incidents
Three people, including a woman, were killed in separate incidents in the district on Monday.
The deceased were identified as trader Abdul Alim, 40, son of Kabir Ahmed, hailed from Kharana area under Patiya upazila, bus driver Mohammad Alamgir, 32, son of Ahead Ali, hailed from Gazipur district and house wife Momata Begum, 30, wife of Idris Ali.
