Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday arrested an executive engineer of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) on charge of accumulating wealth beyond his known sources of income, reports UNB. A team led by ACC director Sayed Iqbal arrested engineer Asir Uddin from in front of the CAAB office, near Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) public relations officer Pranab Kumar said that ACC had filed a case against Asir Uddin back in May for accumulating Tk 2.5 crore by illegal means and for hiding the actual cost of the house.
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Assistant Director Mahfuza Khatun filed the case with Ramna Police Station under the Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2004 on June 14, 2017.
According to the first information report (FIR), Asir earlier on submitted his asset accounts statement to the Commission on November 29, 2016, mentioning his wealth worth Tk 2, 82, 54,196 deposited in the name of his wife and daughter.
On the other hand, there is no income tax document in the name of his wife Tahira Akhter. Besides, his daughter Aida Anzum is underage, who has also no income tax document in her name.
During the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) probe, it has been found that he provided false information to the Commission regarding his wealth, the FIR said.
The probe also found that he was unable to submit the sources of Tk 2, 48, 78,596 while he had also provided false information about the actual cost of his house which is located in Uttara.
