On this day in 1971, valiant freedom fighters freed Manikganj and Bogra districts from the occupation of Pakistan forces.
To mark the day district administration, Muktijoddha Sangshad, political parties and social organisations of the districts have taken various programmes.
Our Bogra correspondent reports: Bogra got free from the hand of occupying Pakistani ruler on December 13 in 1971. Freedom fighters defeated the Pakistani ruler and make the Pak army bound to surrender at Fulbari in Bogra. Some freedom fighters of the district said they started their mission on December 10 in 1971.They made their position strong 3km away from the place.
Our Manikganj correspondent reports: Manikganj was freed from Pakistan occupation forces on this day in 1971. On this day, freedom fighters first hoisted the national flag atop the Primary Training Institute (PTI) in the town.
People from all walks of life of Manikganj will celebrate the day today with various programmes. Immediately after crackdown on March 25 in 1971, the Pakistani troops entered all seven upazilas headquarters in Manikganj and took control of important Aricha Ferry Terminal, PTI and important establishments. Under the leadership of Captain Abdul Chowdhury the freedom fighters formed a unity named ‘Biplobi Parisad’.
