A robot created by Hridoy Hossain, a student of Jhenidah Polytechnic Institute, works according to orders given by humans and performs a number of ‘household jobs’.
The "automatic house cleaner and safety robot" can clean houses and do other activities as ordered. The robot is still under
experimental stage.
Further, the project was ranked fifth among 39 projects from 13 polytechnic institutions participating in a regional skill competition at Jessore Polytechnic Institute on December 1.
After three and a half years of trial, Hridoy, along with Kawser and Sabbir, two of his classmates, finally managed to make the robot.
Hridoy said the robot would start working in accordance with the order of the controller. The device will clean houses, fight fire, and put switches off and on as required.
He claimed the robot would also control mosquitoes and flies.
It would also be able to measure room temperature and operate air coolers, fans and some other gadgets, he said.
Hridoy said the robot will emit light in the dark. Besides, it will also enable the charging of solar-powered lights, fans and other devices.
The robot could be used in offices and factories; it would save both time and money, he added. The newly invented device was adjudged the best among 31 projects in a skill competition held in Jhenidah this year.
Rabiul Islam, head of the electronics technology department of Jhenidah Polytechnic Institute, said the robot might be considered a milestone towards building Digital Bangladesh.
