Two killed in BCL factional clash

Two activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League, the student affiliate body of the ruling Awami League, were killed in a clash between two rival groups at Moulvibazar Govt High School ground in the district town yesterday evening. The deceased were identified as Shahbab Rahman, 23, and Mahi Ahmed 18, both activists of Bangladesh Chattra League, Moulvibazar Superintendent of Police Mohammad Shahjalal told reporters.

The incident took place between two factions of the ruling party student front in front of Moulvibazar Government High School around 6:30pm, said  When contacted, Sohel Ahmed, officer-in-charge of

Moulvibazar Sadar Police Station, said two rival factions clashed near Moulvibazar Govt High School Ground at around 6:00pm where two people were killed. “The clash might have broken out over playing a cricket match on the ground,” he added.

The bodies were sent to Sadar Hospital, he said.
