Two activists were injured in a clash between two rival groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Chittagong University (CU) unit, the student front of the ruling Awami League, over a trifling matter on the campus yesterday.

The injured were identified as Masum Mia, a student of Shanskrit department. He was known as activist of a group named ‘CFC’ follower of Rezaul Haque Rubel, Vice president of CU BCL suspended committee. Rubel is loyal of ABM Mahiuddin Chowdhury, president of port city Awami League.

Other was identified as Din Islam, student of accounting department. He was known as follower of Alamgir Tipu, president of CU BCL suspended committee. Alamgir is follower of AJM Nasir, general secretary of port city Awami League and current port city mayor. The injured were given primary treatment at CU medical centre.     Md Ali Asgor Chowdhury, CU proctor said after hearing this news they rushed to the spot along with police personnel to bring the situation under control. They will take steps after getting complaint. Additional police have been deployed on the campus to avert further clashes, said Md Belal Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Hathazari Police Station.
