Members of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) and detectives have arrested the 'mastermind' behind the killing of a businessman from Gulshan in the capital.
The arrestee was identified as M Helaluddin, 38, a mid-level Jatiyabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leader.
Law enforcers arrested Helal from Kalachandpur area at Gulshan on Tuesday along with five pistols and nine bullets, said Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) chief Monirul Islam at a press briefing at DMP media centre in the capital.
During the primary interrogation, Helal said he, in association with five others, shot Siddique Hossain Munsi alias Siddique Hossain, owner of a recruiting agency, to death as per the directive of a Bangladeshi expatriate who lives in Europe.
“Four of them entered the recruiting agency and fired 25-26 bullets to complete the mission,” the CTTC chief added.
The Bangladeshi expatriate, who is also a Jatiyabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leader, is wanted in a murder case filed with Badda Police Station in the capital.
Businessman Siddique Hossain was gunned down by a group of miscreants at Banani in the city on November 14.
