Abdus Salam Azad has joined Janata Bank Limited as chief executive officer and managing director on Tuesday, the bank said in a press statement yesterday.

Prior to the new appointment, he was the deputy managing director of the bank.

He also served as the deputy managing director of Bangladesh Krishi Bank.

Azad started his banking carrier in 1983 as senior officer in the same of Janata Bank.

He completed BA (Hons) and MA (English Language and Literature) from the University of Rajshahi. He is also a diploma associate of the Institute of Bankers, Bangladesh, Bangladesh (DAIBB), the release added.
