Stocks see up on large-cap vibe

Stocks saw upward trend yesterday as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were

found finishing upward with higher transactions of some large-cap securities, reports BSS.

The rising major sectors were engineering, food and allied and bank. A total of 122 securities of the large-cap group moved up on higher activities.

The broader DSEX index of the DSE finished the session with 23.98 points up at 6,286.75. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 followed it with 3.41 points up at 1,390.88 and 11.76 points up at 2,278.07.

The transactions at DSE were 16.64 core shares valued at total Tk 648.50 crore.

At DSE, out of the day’s 332 traded issues, price of 156 securities closed higher against 126 losing issues.

The major gaining issues were Eastern Cables, BATBC, EBLNRBMF, AMCL (PRAN) and Shahjalal Bank.

The major losing issues were VAMLBDMF1, National Tubes, PLFSL, Tallu Spinning and GQ Ball Pen. BATBC topped the turnover leaders followed by PTL, BD Thai, Confidence Cement and BRAC Bank.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 71.49 points up at 19,468.33. At CSE, 243 issues were traded. Of those, 116 closed higher and 97 closed lower when 1.17 crore shares worth Tk 32.32 crore changed hands.
