Prangane Mor’s ‘Shyama Prem’ at IGCC today

Indira Gandhi Culture Centre (IGCC) is organising a presentation of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore’s drama ‘Shayma Prem’ by theatre troupe Prangone Mor, today at its Gulshan premises. Prangane Mor’s ‘Shyama Prem’ is adopted from Rabindranath’s famous dance drama ‘Shyama’, which has been scripted by Shree Chittoranjan Ghosh and directed by Ananta Hira. The inner theme of ‘Shyama’ is love, freedom and humanity, while its story is about a dancing girl named Shyama from a farmer family. But, there is a tyrant landlord who plunders her from a beautiful free life to show them dancing pleasure. Here, Shyama, Nabina , Mala and Uttieo are all together from the same village and they are good  friends who help each other. When Shyama loses all her beautiful dreams, at that moment her dreams come alive through her lover Bojrosen. Her younger friend Uttieo presents himself as blindly in love with Shyama. Uttio always tries to help her without any feedback. The landlord ambitiously requests her dance in the dinner party. Shyama rejects the request because she wants a beautful life with Bojrosen. She rejects the landlord’s invitation twice and hence the landlord feels unhappy and arrests Bojrosen as a foreigner spy. Uttio always loves Shyama but Shyama does not reciprocate. Here, Uttio wants to prove his love for Shyama. Uttio knows that Bojrosen stands on a life and death situation, and he takes a decision of self-sacrifice. Then, finally he gets the acceptance of love from Shyama. There is an agreement where Bojrosen is released and Uttio surrenders.  Uttio is killed. When Bojrosen knows the reality, he hates himself. At last Bojrosen says that nobody is there to help man, if man don not help man.
