Country’s veteran television personality Nawazish Ali Khan, who started his career in TV media with Karachi TV on November 29 in 1967, has reached the 50-year milestone of his professional life yesterday.
To mark the glorious 50-year journey of television life, ATN Bangla, the current working station of Nawazish Ali Khan, recorded a reception to him on the premises of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) in the capital yesterday. Alongside ATN Bangla and ATN News chairman Dr Mahfuzur Rahman, noted artist Mustafa Monwar, M Hamid, Fatema Tuz Zohra and Dr Enamul Haq, eminent personalities from different fields were present at the event. They highlighted the eventful working life of Nawazish Ali Khan while speaking about this iconic media personality. The guests handed over a crest, uttorio (scarf) and portrait to Nawazish Ali Khan.
Recalling the old memories, Nawazish Ali Khan said that he didn’t get the chance to return home even after Bangladesh earned its independence in 1971. Then, escaping from Pakistan in October in 1972, he returned to the motherland passing through Afghanistan and India. He joined Bangladesh Television in the position of a producer. Eventually, he started his job with a musical programme there. After that, he produced a programme titled ‘Ratna Dwip’.
Nawazish Ali Khan was awarded the National Award as the best producer in 1975 for producing various programmes successfully. Then again, he won the same award for the second time for producing a popular show titled ‘Barnali’. He was also the producer of the audience-admired show of Fazle Lohani titled ‘Jodi Kichhu Mone Na Koren’ on BTV. He was the producer of Eid magazine show ‘Anandamela’ for a long time. Moreover, he produced Abdullah Abu Sayeed’s show ‘Saptaparna’.
Alongside producing programmes, he started working for TV dramas regularly in the 80s. He dramatised many dramas successfully. His notable works include ‘Padtika’ and ‘Tuni Mem’ based on Syed Mujtaba Ali’s famous ‘Pandit Moshaiyer Teen Payer Kukur’, Sharat Chandra’s ‘Obhagir Swarga’, Professor Syed Akram Hossain’s ‘Ghunpoka’ and others. He met Humayun Ahmed after started producing tele-dramas for BTV. Thus, he was the producer of Humayun Ahmed’s first drama on BTV titled ‘Prothom Prohor’. He also produced Humayun Ahmed’s much-acclaimed drama serials like Bahubrihi’ and ‘Auyomoy’ for BTV. He also produced Humayun Ahmed’s many single-episode tele-dramas, such as ‘Osomoy’, ‘Ojatra’, ‘Bibah’, ‘Eso Neepobone’, ‘Oijaboard’, ‘Matiro Pinjirar Majhe’, ‘Moronore Tuhu Momo’, Neemphul’, ‘Janani’ and ‘Kobi O Gachhmanus’, among others.
He retired from Bangladesh Television as the general manager after completing his tenure of 28 long years successfully. He joined Ekushey TV in the same year as the head of programmes. He continued his service with Ekushey TV till December 31, 2002. Then, he joined the ATN Bangla. He has been continuing his job in ATN Bangla as the advisor (Programme) for the last 15 years.
His works have been recognised many times, earning him many awards, and the most notable awards include National Award 1975 and 1976 (Best Producer), Prekkhapat Award 1988, Bangladesh Film Journalist Society Award 1995, NIPA Gold Medal 2000, National Personality Award 1995, Tenasinas Award 1996, TDF lifetime Achievement Award 2004, A-1 Tele-media and Silk Line Independence Award 2005, Aktel Natyasava Award and many more.
