A total of 119 candidates will vie for the upcoming registered graduate election to elect 25 representatives at the senate of Jahangirnagar University (JU) which will be held on December 30 after 19 years.

The candidates were finalised on November 28, the last day of withdrawing nomination paper while the lists of nominated candidates have been published on Wednesday at the university’s official website.

JU Treasurer and Returning Officer of the Election Management Committee Professor Sheikh Monzurul Haque confirmed it to The Independent yesterday.

“We have already published the list of the 118 candidates who will vie at the election. A total of 158 candidates primarily submitted nomination papers.

 Among them, 40 candidates have withdrawn their nominations on November 28’.
