Sami’s 3rd over makes all the difference

It is Mohammad Sami whose third over that made all the difference of the important match between Comilla Victorians and Rajshahi Kings in Chittagong, said Victorians fast-bowler Al Amin Hossain.

Kings pacer Sami first took the key wicket of Tamim Iqbal, who was looked dangerous on 63. The paceman then sent Alok Kapali and Mohammad Saifuddin back in the gap of a dot ball in the same over.

“Actually, we derailed from the match after Sami’s (third) over that took three wickets of us. Before that, we were in the match,” said Al Amin Hossain, who is yet to showcase his venomous bowling burst what he did for the Barisal in 2015.

“A 30-32 run might be done in an over. It’s a part of cricket. Actually, if you look you will see that Mohammad Sami was more economic than their other bowlers whose bowling economy over 10-12 whereas Sami had under nine,” Al Amin told reporters.

“This Pakistani bowler gave away just nine runs in his four-over spell,” he added.

Al Amin, who grabbed one wicket for 32, bats for Saifuddin and said that the way he bowled in the last matches he will surely come back in right vein in the next fixtures of the BPL.

“I don’t think so,” the paceman answered.

“Each bowler became mentally depressed after doing such type of over because it is seen that if any bowler is hit for six in the first ball of an over, coming back for him in the match became very difficult,” he thought.

“After hitting six or four in the first ball, 10-12 runs automatically crossed the over. Overall, he bowled well in the last four -five matches. He conceded five or six runs per over. A match could be done such. He bowls well. Hopefully he will come back in right way in the next match,” he added.

Currently Comilla Victorians are wallowing at second with 10 pints on the BPL’s points table just after the leaders Khulna Titans. In such situation, the national discard pacer thought that they will fare well if they could maintain their previous form.

“We played so far seven matches, wherein we won five,” the right-handed seamer said.

“Today we were in the match. It may be that an over of Sami or Saifuddin made the difference of the match. Moreover, we have been faced a bad decision and missed to properly utilise our powerplay. We lost Imrul in the situation, while we were six for two in three overs. We went to backfoot after that decision,” he also said.

“If we could play better cricket then we have chances to come back. We have next matches against Khulna Titans and Dhaka Dynamites in Chittagong. These are big matches for us. The way we played in the past if we could continue it then we will do better in the next matches also,” he added.
