A schoolboy was stabbed to death at Kandapara under Kumargata union in Muktagachha upazila of the district yesterday.

The victim was identified as Fazlul Haque, 15, son of Golam Robbani of Gandrappur village of the upazila. Fazlu was a student of class nine at Ramkishore High School in Muktagachha.

Ali Ahmed Mollah, officer-in-charge of Muktagachha Police Station, said Fazlu came under attack when he was going to attend a religious gathering near Kandapara village. Some of his friends, who picked up a quarrel with Fazlu over a trifle matter, waylaid him near Kandapara Govt Primary School and locked into an altercation. At one stage, Judge Mia, an intermediate student at Muktagachha Shaheed Smriti College allegedly stabbed Fazlu with a knife leaving him critically injured around 10.00pm, the OC added.
