The Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) yesterday launched drives against illegal extension of 20 houses at Uttara. A section of occupiers have been living in Uttara Residential Model Town at Sector No 11 for long occupying roads by constructing stairs and ramps illegally. The Rajuk authority has several times served notices to the concerned house owners for removing the illegal structures. “The house owners didn’t respond to Rajuk directives. So, we have decided to demolish the illegal structures,” Executive Magistrate of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Sajid Anwar told this correspondent.
Sajid Anwar, who led the eviction drive, also said they have already demolished illegal stairs and ramps of 20 houses constructed occupying city corporation roads in Sector No 11.
He said that the eviction drive is a continuous process and will continue until the illegal structures are removed. “The DNCC authority is now working for illegal structures that narrowed down the 30-foot roads”, he said
