A three-day international on machinery, components, chemicals and accessories for leather, footwear and leather goods will begin in the capital on November 16 to bring global technology to the doorsteps of the local industry to help it flourish, reports UNB. ASK Trade & Exhibitions Pvt Ltd is going to organise the tradeshow titled ‘Leathertech Bangladesh 2017’ at the International Convention City Bashundara.
Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed is expected to inaugurate the event. Nearly 250 exhibitors from 15 countries, including India and China, will be participating in the event. Tanning leather, manufacturing footwear and leather goods machinery along with other components like dyes and chemicals, accessories and allied products will be displayed in the show to benefit all industrial sectors in Bangladesh, said a press released yesterday.
Md Saiful Islam, president of Leathergoods & Footwear Manufacturers & Exporters of Bangladesh (LFMEAB), told a press conference that the government has a target to fetch US $60 billion export earnings from different sectors where $5 billion will be coming from leather and its related products.
In terms of economic value, he said, this sector has valuable contribution. The tradeshow will remain open for all from 11am to 7pm every day since November 18.
