JU viva-voce begins
The viva-voce of the successful candidates for admission to the first year honors courses at Jahangirnagar University (JU) under the academic session 2017-18 began yesterday.
Deputy Registrar (Education-1) Abu Hasan said that the viva-voce will continue till today. Besides, the viva-voce and practical test of C-1 (Drama and Dramatics, Fine Arts) unit began on Saturday that will continue till November 14, he also said.
According to the merit positions, the admission of successful candidates will start from November 20, which will continue till November 23, he added. The detailed information of admission and viva-voce are available on the official website ju-admission.org.
Workshop held at UGC
The concluding ceremony of a two-day workshop on ‘Financial Management for Public Universities: Budgeting Framework, Financial Reporting and Auditing Approach’ was held yesterday at UGC auditorium.
Finance and Accounts Division, UGC organised the workshop for concerned officials of finance, budget and audit of the public universities. Professor Abdul Mannan, chairman of UGC was present as the chief guest.
With Professor Dr M Shah Nowaz Ali, member of UGC in the chair, Professor Dr Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah, Professor Dr Dil Afroza Begum, Professor Dr Akhtar Hossain, and Dr Khaled were Special Guests. Professor Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest on Saturday.
UGC Chairman, in his speech urged the concerned officials to properly follow the financial government rules and UGC guidelines for ensuring transparency and accountability of universities. He observed that implementation of annual performance agreement and national integrity strategy is highly needed for ensuring good governance at university level. He urged the participants to implement their earned knowledge at their work places. He further said that the goals and objectives of the government are to proceed the higher education and for this UGC has been working relentlessly.
Seminar on infantile literature held at IU
A seminar on “The Movement of Infantile Literature” held at Prof Dr Moklesur Rahman seminar library under Arabic Language and Literature department at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia yesterday.
Prof Dr Nesar Uddin Ahmed, dean of arts and social science faculty, was present as the chief guest while Prof Dr M Ruhul Amin of the department attended as the special guest. PhD fellow M Nurul Islam explained three articles on infantile literature supervised by Prof Dr M Ruhul Amin with chairman of the department Prof Dr M Mahbubur Rahman presided over the seminar.
Prof Dr A B M Faruk, theology faculty dean and Prof Dr M Obaidul Islam, Prof M Saiful Goani of the department addressed as the keynote speakers.
