LAKSHMIPUR: A court here yesterday sentenced a youth to life term imprisonment for raping a deaf girl at Keroa village in Raipur Upazila of the district in 2015, reports BSS.

District and Session judge Dr AKM Abul Kashem handed down the verdict convicting Jahangir Hossain.

According to the prosecution story, in brief, on November 17 in 2015, Jahangir, 26, of Dakhin Keroa village, violated the physically challenged girl at his house.

On November 23, the girl’s mother filed a rape case against Jahangir.

Police submitted the charge sheets on February 27 in 2016.

After examining the deposition of witnesses and relevant evidences, the judge pronounced the verdict in presence of Jahangir.
