Khulna Income Tax Zone has collected over Tk 29.14 crore income tax as revenue from the income tax fairs which concluded on Tuesday evening in ten district and eight upazila headquarters under Khulna Division, while income taxes of over Tk 11.92 crore was

collected during the week-long tax fair that concluded in Rajshahi on Tuesday evening reports BSS.

In the divisional city, Khulna Zonal Tax Commissioner’s Office organised the week-long Income Tax Fair-2017 from November 1 to 7 on Boyra Income Tax Building premises in the city with an objective to motivate people to pay taxes, so that the government can invest more in public welfare.

Talking to the news agency, Commissioner of Taxes for Khulna Zone Iqbal Hossain said around 27,812 tax payers paid over Tk 29.14 crore as income tax revenue in these tax fairs arranged under Khulna zone till last night.

On the other hand, Rajshahi Zonal Tax Commissioner’s Office organised the fair at Zafar Imam Tennis complex.

Tax Commissioner Dr Khandaker Ferdous Alam yesterday told the news agency that 16,510 taxpayers submitted their return in the fair while a total of 921 new taxpayers were created.

In addition to a consultation point, six stalls from six circles of the zone extended other necessary services in the fair.

Income tax officials provided advices and suggestions on income tax, TIN certificates and assist the taxpayers.

Janata and Sonali banks set up booths to help the taxpayers in paying income taxes.

Meanwhile, National Board of Revenue (NBR) accorded reception to 42 highest and long-term taxpayers in Rajshahi yesterday marking

the National Income Tax Week-2017.
