Members of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Monday seized firearms and ammunition from a ditch owned by a local Juba Legue leader of Eociya union under Satkania upazila in Chittagong. As part of investigation into a murder case, CID conducted a drive in the area on Monday night. In the drive, CID recovered a foreign made AK-22, six bullets of AK-22, two magazines, three Light Guns (LGs), three rounds of 7.65 mm bullet and seven cartridges from a ditch owned by the Jaba League leader, Mahfuzul Haque, also an UP member. Mahfuzul Haque is also known as a follower of local MP Abu Reza Mohammad Nezamuddin Nadvi. Following information from Md Mahfuzul Haque who was arrested in connection with a murder incident, CID conducted the drive and recovered the firearms. “During primary interrogation, Mahfuz confessed to have kept the firearms, which had been used in the murder, in the ditch, and then we conducted the drive,” said CID inspector Obaidul Haque. On January 7, 2015 a group of armed terrorists attacked the house of Hafez Ahmed, vice-president of Eociya union unit of Awami League and killed his (Hafez’s) son’s mother-in-law Anwara Begum, 42. Hafez Ahmed filed a case in this connection with Satkania police station. CID is investigating the case.
